Canadians have learned about and have been inspired by Viola Desmond, this ordinary yet extraordinary person from Nova Scotia’s proud black community who stood up for her rights. This would not have happened were it not for Wanda Robson and her unwavering commitment to chronicle her sister’s act of courage. As a result, Canadians from coast to coast to coast carry Viola Desmond’s story with them wherever they go, and each time the new $10 bill changes hands it creates an opportunity to ask: Who was this woman from Halifax who was chosen to be on the $10 bill? The answer is found in the unwavering educating efforts of Wanda Robson.
