INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY with Second Story Women’s Centre.
Presentation & Opening Reception: Friday, March 8th at 7:00PM
Exhibition featuring ‘Friends & Neighbours’ by Emily Powers & Community Artworks: March 8th – March 21st, 2024
Join us for an evening in recognition of International Women‘s Day that will reintroduce Lunenburg’s impactful organization, Second Story Women’s Centre. The event will explore what International Women’s Day means to the Centre, to our School, to Artist Emily Powers, and to our community. The evening will include Rebecca Zolkower & Bianca Palmer performing Jennifer Castle’s song “Sailing Away”. Following the presentation we invite you to our gallery for a reception and exhibition opening.
This exhibition features ‘Friends and Neighbours: A Portrait Series of Impactful Women in our Community’ by Emily Powers, created during our School’s Winter 2023 Artist-in-Residence program. Alongside these incredible paintings will be community artworks inspired by, “What does International Women’s Day mean to You?”
We invite you contribute to this exhibition (everyone is welcome — no need to be an artist) and create a small 6″x6″ canvas expressing “What does International Women’s Day mean to you?” Blank canvases will be available to take home at SSWC Mondays to Thursdays (18 Dufferin Street) and at our School (call ahead) Mondays to Fridays. Please return your canvas to our School by March 5th.
