MUSIQUE ROYALE Cookie Concerts present Sibylle Marquardt & Michel Cardin

Musique Royale is delighted to feature traverso flutist Sibylle Marquardt, and theorbist Michel Cardin at our upcoming Cookie Concert on Saturday February 3 at 2 pm. Moving from Germany, Sibylle has called Canada homesince 1997, and her traverso playing has an irrisistable presence within baroque chamber music settings for it’s delicacy and clarity. Sibylle is joined by Michel Cardin, an internationally lauded theorbo player who is based in Moncton, New Brunswick. Michel has a well known reputation within the baroque world for his treasured recordings made on the lute works by Silvius Leopold Weiss (1687-1750).

Join Sibylle and Michel for an afternoon of music featuring French, German, and Scottish baroque works for traverso flute and theorbo. Hear works by family greats CPE & JS Bach, French court musician Robert de Visée, famous Scottish fiddler Niel Gow, and Italian-influenced Scottish composer and violinist William McGibbon.

Cookie Concerts are welcome to listeners of all ages, taking place the first Saturday of the month at 2 pm (running October – June), at the Lunenburg School of the Arts (6 Prince St). Children are invited to sit in the front at the concerts which are around an hour long, and followed by a sweet treat! Admission is $5 at the door, ages 4 and under are free.
