Please join us on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00pm in the Ramp Studio for the second lecture in the three-part series: Extraordinary Homes.

Jane Abbott was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She received an Honours Degree in the Arts from McGill University, Montreal, and a degree in Textile Design at the Technical School Sonderborg, Denmark. Jane graduated from Dalhousie Architecture School with the Henry Adam’s Medal awarded by the American Institute of Architects, as well as the Nova Scotia Association of Architects Thesis Award. At graduation she was one of five students nominated to the Honors List with the RAIC. 

Abbott Brown Architects was formed in 2013 with partner, Alec Brown. Abbott Brown Architect have designed residential and public projects throughout Nova Scotia, as well as in New Brunswick and PEI. They have won the Lieutenant Governor Awards for Design Excellence 8 times over the last 8 years as well as 3 Mayor Awards and 3 Urban Design Awards. Jane is currently a sessional instructor at Dalhousie University.

 


ABOUT THE RAIC:

The RAIC South Shore Network encompasses the federal electoral district of South Shore—St. Margarets. The Network offers a series of monthly evening lectures and presentations at the Lunenburg School of the Arts; which offers workshops led by professional art educators and working artists from their historic studio space in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

The public presentations by Network members and guests have included topics such as architectural restoration and restoration techniques, energy efficiency, history and culture, as well as profiles of specific architectural practice.
