In this course we will learn how to throw the clay on the wheel and build our confidence to become better at this fascinating craft. This process takes a few important steps, which will help to understand how a lump of clay transforms into a beautiful functional bowl. The process includes throwing, trimming and then decorating and glazing. This throwing course is designed for beginners and for those who have some throwing experience and want to get better!
Students should bring:
- Apron (aprons can always by purchased at the LSA)
- Old towel (the LSA has some available)
- Water bottle
- Notebook and pencil

Inga Gircyte
Inga Gircyte is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Lithuania. Her journey began with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Directing before she relocated to Toronto in 2011. In that same year, Inga embarked on the development of her painting and ceramics skills, eventually transitioning into a role as an art educator. In 2019, she completed her BFA in the Drawing and Painting program at OCAD University. Recently, Inga made her home in South Shore, NS, where she operates a ceramic and painting studio within her residence.
Inga’s work explores both sculptural and painterly realms across various surfaces and mediums. Her creative process is influenced by her Lithuanian heritage and explores the universal language and connections among experienced environments and ecosystems.
