In this class we will explore form, volume, colour and surface decoration through the process of designing and building your own set of dinnerware. Have you ever wanted the perfect platter for serving your favorite summer pavlova cake and a set of matching dishes to go with it? Well this is the class for you.

Through pinching, coil, and slab demonstrations, learn to hand-build your way to having a delightful set of cohesive dishes for your home. Students can expect to make 10-12 pieces in this class.

Students should bring:

  • Apron
  • Pen/pencil
  • Sketchbook
  • Water Bottle

Gillian Maradyn-Jowsey

Gillian Maradyn-Jowsey is a ceramic artist living in Lunenburg, NS. She graduated from NSCAD University in 2017 with a BFA in ceramics, and has participated in a number of craft residencies including the NSCAD Lunenburg Community Residency, and Craft Lair at the Center for Craft in Halifax.

She has taught a number of ceramics classes at the Lunenburg School of the Arts, as well as working as a teacher’s assistant alongside Walter Ostrom and Douglas Bamford.
