Linda Hudson & the WFNS
Monday to Friday, July 14 – July 18, 2025
10:00am – 4:00pm
This workshop, for youth ages 11 – 14, will be an adventure into expanding the creative mind, and expressing it through images and the written word.
Participants will discover and explore character development and place building, and playing with language. The classes will delve into different genres and styles of writing with a focus on fiction (mystery, fantasy, etc).
We will have visits from professionally published authors in the morning, and will explore Lunenburg in the afternoons with the intention of writing outside.
Registration includes a Lunenburg School of the Arts tote bag and notebook for each participant.
Students should bring:
- Lunch.
- Sunscreen and protective clothing (hat).
- Preferred writing tools (if they have any, but NOT a computer unless used specifically for learning aid.)
- Comfortable shoes for walking.
- A water bottle.
- Bug spray.

The Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS) is an arts service organization founded on a collaborative philosophy: writers helping writers.
WFNS provides a wide array of professional services that support the craft of writing, the business of being a writer, and promotes Nova Scotia writers as integral to the province’s cultural life and creative economy. WFNS has approximately 750 members at all career stages, who are engaged in a diverse range of forms, genres, and writing practices.
Linda Hudson
earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Mount Saint Vincent University, a Masters in English Literature from Acadia University, and an Masters of Library and Information Studies from Dalhousie University. She is the Program Manager (Arts Education) at WFNS, and enjoys encouraging the kids to write the weirdest and wildest stories.
